{"id":5165,"date":"2018-11-09T19:45:50","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T18:45:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/skrivanek.sk\/uncategorized\/introducing-cat-innovations\/"},"modified":"2025-03-28T10:30:29","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T09:30:29","slug":"introducing-cat-innovations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.skrivanek.sk\/en\/introducing-cat-innovations\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing CAT innovations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The attitude towards CAT innovations changes fundamentally with how you use the tool: working with\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CAT<\/span>\u00a0tools is different from the perspective of the language services coordinator, the translator, the proofreader, and also from the perspective of using\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CAT<\/span>\u00a0tools for the final internal check.<br \/>\nIn my work\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">as a CAT<\/span>\u00a0specialist, I encounter several typical challenges that follow a similar course and can be described by means of a multi-step process: the step of exploring new possibilities, the puzzle time, the mind map of deployment options, the identification of most minimal collision paths and boundaries, and the conclusion is the hack of existing skills and the infecting of users with new\u00a0practices.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest work is with the translators, as\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CAT<\/span>\u00a0tools tend to help them, so it&#8217;s just a matter of getting the information about the new possibilities to them. This group also has easily definable\u00a0needs.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the most difficult part of the translation process is the group of language service coordinators who ensure the smooth progress of the entire translation process. They must be familiar with working in a\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CAT<\/span>\u00a0environment from the perspective of all user groups. They do not have to be fast users, but they must understand the work to a level where they can anticipate the entire process, even when processing rarer formats for\u00a0translation.<\/p>\n<p>Compare information from\u00a0Wikipedia:\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/cs.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sk%C5%99iv%C3%A1nek_(firma\"><span class=\"caps\">https:\/\/cs.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sk%C5%99iv%C3%A1nek_(<\/span>company<\/a><\/u>).<\/p>\n<p>These are groups of 8,000 external and 300 internal colleagues (in fifteen countries) who may need the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CAT<\/span>\u00a0tool for their work. Fortunately, not all of them.\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<br \/>\nIn other words, finding ways to deploy innovations to such a huge user group is always\u00a0a challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Working with innovations starts in our small country, where we all generally have a similar, or rather lax, attitude to\u00a0innovations.
